Hello Jimmie,

Guess you are referring to Mayan (ancient people of South Mexico and modern day countries adjacent to South Mexico) doomsday but the date there is Dec 21, 2012 and not Dec 12, 2012. It is predicted that world will end that day. But lets worry about nifty, enjoy our daily soda, rides on fast mobikes and cars, live life one day at a time. Listen to “It’s a wonderful life” by a genius called Louise Armstrong. Guess Mayur would know about this!!!!! Have fun and we will worry about 2012 sometimes in Jan of that year.

Those who do not want to read it, here is the summary: The Mayan civilisation's long calendar ends/begins every 5126 years. It last started on Aug 11th 3114 BC and will end on Dec 21st 2012. Many archaeologists, based on excavated evidence, have suggested that Mayans actually believed that end of the long calendar actually predicted an age of enlightenment. There is no talk of any doomsday.

Our present day geniuses have twisted this for their convenience and have somehow come up with the another doomsday prediction. Many opportunists have setup businesses around this idea, for example, the "official" Dec 21st 2012 website even sells T-Shirts and other stuff promoting this idea, see here: http://www.december212012.com/products/tee_shirts.shtml
