This method I believe was developed and fine tuned by Alchemist. I had the privilege to learn directly from him though I no longer use it. However made a quick assessment on nifty EOD chart. Found that in 250 calendar days one could have made 1181 points on nifty - 1M.

Also the method I have chosen is a very SAFE one. Enter only after EMA crossover happens and one candle closes, that is the next day. Exit on flattening of 10 period Bollinger Band. It is so safe I can claim that never will anyone see a negative exit.

However ROI is low - around 23% in a month. (still very high for a sitting income). Stress is also very low as one needs to check only once a day.

For one nifty lot of assuming Rs.30,000/- one can make Rs.59,050 from 1181 points in 250 calendar days. Assuming 10% deduction in terms of brokerage, STT and transaction cost one can still make Rs. 53,000 from one lot of nifty -1M in 250 calendar days. So if some body can put in Rs. 12 lacs he can make Rs.21.3 lakhs in 250 calendar days almost risk and stress free.

Chetan, Please share with us the doubling strategy (100% p.a) . The one I mentioned gives 77% return p.a after brokerage.

No it is not useful to trade with 3/15 in intraday due to volatility all day ,just stick on the system and mint money.

thanks

Hello All,

A) Is there any scanner available to sort out the stocks based on EOD 3/15 EMA crossovers? If such a scanner is available, please let me know. I tried using the iCharts Screeners but they cannot be customized to our 3/15 EMA settings.

B) For veterans of this 3/15 strategy (Eg: Steve, et all), I wanted to know which options do you select for the trade, viz., ATM, ITM OR OTM. ?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Sid

Dear Sjjhala,

1. Rather than using a screener, I have decided to follow a selected few stocks (preferrably 2 /3 from each of the different sector, like Banking, Oil & Gas, Pharma, Reality, FMCG, IT, Metals etc.) and watch them regulary. Over a period of time, one gets familiar with price pattern / price action and starts developing feel for the possible future price action.

Based on time available for reviewing the chart, one can select 10 to 20 stocks.

2. While I am not veteran / expert on options, I suggest to use OTM. Please select stock where option liquidity is good.

Happy Trading ...

Addition to my previous post:

1. I use eod 3/15 based signals for these selected stocks. For many days there is no signal (either buy or sell) but it is okay to wait for this set-up.

2. OTM bu juts one strike above the CMP.

Addition related to exit: As pointed out in post providing details on this method: One may exit when stock closes quite away from ema3.

Do you make your entry intraday or the next day after 3 EMA closes beyond 15 EMA

Dear Newinvestor,

1. I do not have sufficient experience on this method to specify entry method. However, going by observations from "Opportunist", I suggest entering next day. Question is when on next day. I choose to enter after around 30 minutes trading ( after 9.30 am) and set up a trigger order based on high / low level reached till now.

For example, ONGC is about to provide bullish crossover. For a moment, assume that bullish crossover happens on Monday and on Tuesday, Hi/Lo till 9.45 am is 316/314. I will place buy order after 9.45 (before 10 am) which triggers when price crosses 316. I will keep stop loss as lower of the last 2 days, in this case, fridays low (assuming that Mondays low is higher) which is 298.

2. In my opinion, putting stop loss everyday (for positions already open. ) is quite critical. I recommend keeping lower of last 2 days (or high in case of short position) as SL. (Similar values will be applicable for options also)

I request guidance from experienced traders on SL to be placed everyday for this method.

3. At this point of time, HINDUNILVR and Ranbaxy are in buy mode with SL being 462 and 436 respectively. (One can keep a little deeper SL to keep protected against whipsaw, I plan to keep 450 and 420)

dear gemini

In both Hindunilvr and Ranbaxy 3,15 cross over took place on 14/3 and 12/3 resp. Are you sure still they are in buy mode?

Ongc cross over as pointed out may happen in 1-2 trading days if market rally further.
Pl give ur opinion.

Dear PV Ramesh,

Yes, I agree that the breakout has happened some days ago. I am going by the belief that as these stocks are above 3/15 crossover (and hence in positive territory), they have higher probability of success.

To be further safe, one can wait for recent high to be broken (on eod basis) on upside before entering (one can enter near eod say, 3.15 pm or so).

ONGC - yes, we need to wait.

Many others stocks will join this list provided they are able to make a double bottom and cross 3/15 ( Tata Steel, Sterlite, Sesa Goa etc.) They are on my watch list !

Watch Deepak Fert on eod 3/15 basis, just about to show bullish breakout. ( Fundamentally also, it is a good stock), strong support at 90.
