Great thread. Very good for traders who are not able to spend time in front of terminals and still want to participate in trading activity. Needs lot of patience !

I suggest waiting for Nifty to reach oversold level ( may like to use Williams' % R (10 days) ) before opening fresh shorts. Right now, in my personal opinion, Nifty is oversold and hence, risk reward ratio for fresh short is low.

Let us see what market decides to do !

Stevenmat,

Thanks. Very useful chart.

Curious to know about exit strategy. Do you wait till next crossover ( i.e. Stop and Reverse) or exit earlier based on some method for trailing loss?

Hi steve,

Suggestion to fine tune the method
Use macd crossover for further confirmation

It could avoid whipsaws !

I don't wait for long...i generally exit on the second day after cross over..
Have to fine tune a system for target..

N.B: Since i exit in two days we never get huge reward points.. But like i mentioned earlier.. In the Feb series we shorted on Feb 1st at 6000 level and covered the shorts 5950 levels.. and that was a gain of around 30% of your capital... But if we had waited till expiry we would have had a 364 % return.. But i believe that 30% in two days is better than 300+% in three odd weeks...

That's correct shanti..

@maddy : I do check MACD 12,26,9 as an indicator .. But MACD can back fire quite a number of times.. Like looko in the months of Dec & Jan.. 3 15 EMAs never crossed over.. but MACDs kept crossing over which would give you wrong trades..
Besides if you firmly believe in one system then its better not use more indicators which can toy with your rational thinking..

Steve,

I meant if you club both you get extraordinary returns
Look for crossover of ema's also check macd is in your favour.
Trigger the gun.

The trade should be placed only when both favours you, otherwise it could be sideways trend

@shanti : Its a simple plot...Just plot 3 EMA,close and 15 EMA,close... take trades during cross overs..
