sirji,
want ur opition ........want to avoid whipsaws in stocks.....if we observe macd 65,130,45 is positive & above zero,we only go for long trade, neglect short crossover....will it work? bcoz high beta stock like dlf, jindal steel, jpassociates gives very large moves.

I dont think this strategy works effectively for stocks.. I've myself monitored several stocks but it generally gives equal amounts of opportunities and misses.. which we obviously dont want... Hence please use this only for Nifty..

I was on holiday for a week.. but as vinaysaab pointed out there was a crossover EOD on 1st.. So if you had bought calls on 1st.. you would be sitting at decent profit..

So good luck !!

cheers
stevenmat

Hi Steven,

Thanks for your views.

I am following the trades as per a slightly faster entry ( and early exits ). Not very graceful exits always Very Happy . the profits are phenomenal in this system.

I agree that it may not work as well in Stocks, however still wanting to believe and doing backtests in various stocks and BNF. Laughing

This is the list BankNifty, Hindunilvr, LT, SBIN, Tatasteel, Tatamotors, TCS.

Maybe I will find what I am looking for maybe it will fizzle out.. Very Happy

Have a very happy and healthy new year .

Regards,

Hello friends,

NS ADX has dropped to 15 on daily TF (ref. J premium) and hence I expect whipsaw to continue. I am adding this post here to help us examine performance of 3/15 crossover strategy under low ADX conditions.

Happy Trading !

hi Gemini,

still it is better to take all trades.

the reason for performance during low adx period would be directed at avoiding some trades. But the overwhelming factor is that large gain trades emerge in low adx period. which trade would be that: 1st, 2nd, 3rd...? after that adx would be trending again.
so i guess it's almost impossible to beat the collective assessment of the masses unless any trading rules are followed to the hilt. I am saying this after doing huuuge studies through computer codes on nearly 100 trading systems for around 10 yrs.

However, as learners, I too wud be looking forward to your feedback on 3-15 perf during low adx periods.

Vinst,

Thanks for sharing your experience. I do agree that once decided to follow a system, it is better to follow all signals. May be during low adx period , one can be more vigilant / have reduced quantity.

Happy Trading.

Gemini: Valid observation. There is an excellent book by Dr Schaap = "ADXcellence" where he focuses on ADX based trading.
Another key would be volume. (As there is no trading in NS, we can consider volume in NF)
In short, be alert as soon as Stevemat's excellent trigger shows crossover but hold back a little if both ADX AND volume= LOW. Enter as soon as both improve. That may be the way to avoid whipsaws
