Buying at 34 and selling at 10 .... That would have wiped off 70% of the capital |

anubond - I see it as 24 points loss on NF that's it.
Only an amateur will trade their entire capital in one trade... maybe you are one of them and that's why you see it as 70% loss of capital.
Cheers

Dear Alchemist,
Just a few pointers:
1. I never said ‘entire capital’… 70% of whatever amount you are trading with
2. Just a small input, instead of points and rupees, see things in percentage terms. Unless you mean to say that you will only buy 1050 quantity (as per your last trades), whatever be the price, whether 100 or 34. With percentages increasing/decreasing number of lots doesn’t affect the overall psychology and trading style.
3. Don’t judge people as amateur or ‘expert’ based on number of posts (probably) or just because they raised a question….more often than not, vice-versa is true.
4. On discussion forums, people will either support you or question you or will try to take you down. Be open to all kind of comments and feedback.
P.S. My post was not to bog you down. You are doing good, keep up the good work. Happy Trading!! |

Thought to summarise the P&L of last few trades and work out the current capital position.
At the close of trade 30, the capital was 3,65,500
Trade 31 gave a profit of 2100
Trade 32 gave a loss of 9450
Trade 33 gave a loss of 25200
Trade 34 gave a profit of 22575
Trade 35 gave a loss of 21000
This brings the current capital to 3,34,525
As there has been some drawdown by trading the system, i would reduce the trade size now to 750 NF now (original trade size) for some time until I get the capital above the previous high of 4 lakhs plus.
Cheers

Dear anu bond,
Maybe its your english but when you say 'The capital' it implies the entire capital. While trading in options, if I am staking only less than 10% of my capital per trade, I dont mind losing 100% of that 10% if my target profit is to triple the amount deployed. My capital before this trade was 3.5 lakhs and I risked only 26K out of it on this trade (24 points x1050 NF). Why was it so shocking for you? Right at the start of this thread I had explained I will risk 10% of my capital per trade max and thats what i have been doing since. By doing that, my 1.5L is already 3.5L within 3 months.... its a high risk and high return game.
I have and will buy my fixed qty irrespective of whether option is trading at 150 or 35 till the time my SL limits my loss to less than 10% of my capital. I dont lose sleep when i am risking money that i have made from the mkt.
I called you amateur not because you raised a question (though you didnt actually raise any questions, you just made a comment laced with criticism ), but because you interpreted my trade in an amateurish way without looking at my trading style and money management system which is all explained in this thread.
Being open to comments and feedback applies to you as well. I just gave you feedback on the way you reacted to my trade even when you havent been trading this system or without even understanding it.
If you dont want to bog down anyone, please try not to post sarcastic comments and then try to disguise them as constructive or a simple question....
Hope you will take this feedback in the right spirit.
Happy trading to you as well.
Cheers

Dear Alchemist,
Criticism, sarcasm, amateurishness….all that deduced from one sentence…shows how messed up your personal life would have been, reading too much between the lines than what is being intended…my sympathies to you and people around you.
Nonetheless, this thread is a great learning tool for fellow traders (amateurs and experts alike), about do’s of trading (what Alchemist has been doing) and don’ts of trading psychology and behavior (again what Alchemist has been doing 'off-late' ).
Apologies for having unknowingly bogged you down, you may rise now. I’m done with this discussion, do not wait to hear from me any further, you may carry on your rants and raves as before. If I have the power to boost or bog someone down with one liners, I’d rather use it responsibly, as Spidey said ‘With great power comes great responsibilities’.
Happy Trading!! |
