You had sent two emails to us about this and we have replied to both. +2/-2 values on the y-axis for BOS indicator are the standard deviations. For example: if BOS indicator hits +2 it means the move was 2 standard deviations above the mean (which is the moving average or center bollinger band).

ian_botham47,

Do not start new topic everytime you post in the forum. We can continue this discussion in this topic itself.

I am not sure why you haven't received the emails. We have replied to the emails we received from you. Try checking the junk mail folder, maybe the emails got dumped there by mistake.

About BOS, you will have to search the net or wait for other users to reply. Basically, BOS gives you the width of the bollinger bands in standard deviations. I personally do not use BOS, so I can't give you a good reply on its usage.

Requesting other users to post any info on BOS they might have or examples of its usage.

since yu have marked yr initial message to me , i wd like to ans like this

As ST sir has said its the std deviation related to bollinger band.

but it can be used practically in trading as per following,

for BUY signal-- when it crosses -1 from below to upside
exit -when it crosses 1 from above

for SELL signal-- when it crosses 1 from above towards 0,
exit---when it corsses -1from below

these are some practical tips , dont ask why this or that way

Dear svkum,
I saw your post on BOS a few weeks back on a different thread and have been using it to enter trades based on hourly chart. Buying has been very good because BOS is, in my opinion, the first indicator that turns bulish even before RSI or MACD. But for profit booking I exited a little too early a few times and have noticed, may be, RSI should have been considered for confirmation. Or may be this was due to the bullish conditions in the last two weeks or so. Can you throw more light on BOS? If you have to consider another indicator alongwith BOS which other indicator did you find suitable? And what were the timeframes for which you used BOS(20) and BOS(30)?

Falcon
BOS is useful in any tf ,
only yr reflex actions shd be dependent on tf , shorter the tf quick actions.
For exit action with maximum profit advantage , i already siad , abt exit policy.
still yu can use macd along with this .

svkum, while setting BOS, the default value appears as 9. Is it correct?
