“Harami” is an old Japanese word for “pregnant”. The long white candlestick is “the mother” and the small candlestick is “the baby”.

let's celebrate Harami Birthday !! birthday birthday birthday birthday

Bullish Harami pattern is a reversal pattern with following criteria

1. Downtrend should be clearly visible or evident
2. First candle should be black (down)

My opinion - this signal should be ignored.

I agree with this view. This should be ignored unless something like a consistent selling happens. Even if the market forms a black candle tomorrow, we dont have to worry if we are above the 8-day EMA(5425 as per today's closing). In that case, we will break the high made yesterday soon which will negate the Harami. However, one must reassess the situation only if the market goes below the 8-day EMA. This is because the market hasn't gone below this level after the 4800 level has been conquered.

dear sir,
with due apologies, we should not ignore any warning given by candlestick pattern. The break below the low 5387 should ring the bell for correction..

Hi Dinesh,

I didn't say that we should ignore it completely. But as long as we are above 8-day EMA, we shouldn't be worried. That's what I have meant. By the way, reliability of this pattern is not considered high. Its a LOW to MEDIUM level pattern as far as the reliability is concerned. So, let's just wait and watch the trades for a few days from now onwards to check the effectiveness of this pattern. Very Happy

Regards,

Sam

Interesting -- first a Marabuzo candle and then what looks like a harami pattern along with the Marabuzo.

How do we read this?

First there was some profit to be booked after the Marabuzo rise .Someone is going to blink , you see.

Second , later half buying today gave you the long shadow of the so called 'pregnant hump' else we would have ended with a black/red candle

So far so good ... we are still bullish

Third , tomorrow is a Friday and then Monday is a trading holiday . who is going to carry positions over the longish weekend ? What if Greece is thrown out of Eurozone to fend for itself over the weekend? who will blink tomorrow?

Fourth , will the sentiment of 'third' (as above) actually get the bulls to absorb the selling and add to their positions ? Likely

Or is it just going to be a dull day

Ruining the bullish sentiment will delay the share sales of PSU
