Never before in history, one date has become so significant to so many cultures, so many religions and so many people around the world, December 21st 2012. Mayan calender ends on winter solstice 2012. Hopi Indians see a great purification of the earth. Chinese text I Ching predicts the end of the history. Einstein warns of polar shift. NASA confirms intense solar storms are coming. Bible tells of forthcoming apocalypse. Even an internet based software program Web-bot predicts major catastrophic events in 2012.
Is there any science behind these dire predictions? Could the ancient oracles predict the future? The answer matters because history shows a good track record of those who predicted that the doomsday is near.
The Mayan civilization was extremely advanced in mathematics, engineering and astronomy. They also had an incredible understanding of time and space. They created a calender even more precise than our own. Its interlocking timescales of lunar, solar and planetory cycles could accurately predict a solar eclipse thousands of years into the future. The “Great Cycle” of the “Long Count” calendar equates to 5,125.36 years. The current Great Cycle which started in 3,113 B.C. is due to be completed on the winter solstice of 2012, December 21. The Mayans believed that there is a dark rift in the centre of the galaxy (they called it Hunab-Ku) and Sun will entre in that dark rift. Very recently in 2001 western astronomers also confirmed that there is a massive black hole in the centre of our galaxy. They concur with the Mayans that on 21st December 2012 Earth will be in direct alignment with the Sun and the Milky Way. The galactic event that takes place only once in 25800 years. No one knows what effect this extraordinary alignment will have on the earth. But Mayans belived it will be dire.
Geophysicist have a theory that is strikingly similar to the event predicted by the Mayans. This phenomenon is called Pole Shift in which entire mettle of the earth will shift in a matter of days, changing the position of the north and south pole causing world wide disastors. There will be earthquakes in virtually every part of the world and massive tsunamis will be generated. Einstein had suggested the similar theory in 1955. Recent studies from prienstein university have revealed that the poles have shifted before.
Identical doomsday date can be found in chinese text, I Ching or Book of Changes. The I Ching was written in 2800 B.C. and is followed till today. I Ching divides into 64 hexagrams, each a combination of six lines holding the properties of yin or yang. Each hexagram, according to the tradition, represents the archetypes of human interactions. Assuming that the world is governed by seemingly random events and causality, the chaos in hexagram selection by the I Ching diviner compliments the chaotic nature of reality, thus tapping in to its very nature allowing insight to life's possibilities. A gentleman, Terrence McKenna studied the I Ching intensly and began to see a pattern emerging. From that pattern he produced a timeline graph and called it Time Wave Zero theory. Terrence's time line derived from the I Ching ended in the year 2012 - December 21, 2012 to be exact. The winter solstice.
The Web Bot Project, developed in the late 1990's, was created to assist in making stock market predictions. The technology uses a system of spiders to crawl the Internet and search for keywords, much like a search engine does. When a keyword is located, the bot program takes a snapshot of the text preceding and following the keyword. This snapshot of text is sent to a central location where it is then filtered to define meaning. The projects concept is aimed at tapping into the "collective unconscious" of the universe. But in 2001, bot operators began to notice that stock market predictions were not the only matters being accurately predicted by the program. They began to take notice of coincidence with occurrences and explored it further. One of the first accurate predictions from the bot program took place in June of 2001. The program predicted that a life altering event would take place within the next 60-90 days. An occurrence of such proportion that it's effects would be felt worldwide. The program based it's prediction on "web chatter" which ultimately represents the collective unconscious of society. The bot program's prediction proved accurate and the Twin Towers fell on 9/11/2001. Interestingly web bot also predicts a series of catastrophic events that will be at its peak in 2012.
Many of us have heard about Merlin the Magician. He also predicted that the planets will "run riot" through the constellations. Completely off their normal paths of rotation. Scientists speculate that if this were to happen, it would be a result of the earth changing it's rotation - or the poles shifting. Merlin also predicted that the use of "talking stones" would be taking place during this time. Now every body knows that stone is the basis of our modern technology. Quartz technology is used in cell phones as well as computers. Silicone quartz stores information that can then be retrieved.
The oldest tribe in the United States, the Hopi Indian tribe, believed that the world has been created and destroyed four times previously. The Hopi's believe that we are on the brink of the Fifth World. They predicted that this occurrence would be preceded by submersion (rising waters), the sun getting hotter (global warming), and earth occurrences (hurricane's, tornadoes, and mass flooding). The Hopi's also predicted that the world at this time would be criss-crossed by a spider web, which could be likened to the Internet.
In the ancient world also there was prominent oracle in Roman Empire. She was called Sibyl who lived in the cave of cumae. Sibyl`s prophecies were collected and housed in the temple of Jupiter. They were considered the most important religious books of ancient Rome. Among the Sibyl`s prophecies was a distant apocalypse. She predicted that the world will last till nine periods of 800 years each and the tenth generation will begin approximately 2008 A.D. and it would be the last. In the 6th Century B.C. she predicted the invasion of Italy by Hannibal 700 years before it happened and she had predicted his ultimated defeat. She predicted the rise of the emperor Constantine by name 800 years before he was born. But her greatest prophicy was of begining of the golden age and the child who would be born would initiate this. This prophecy was written in 20 B.C. and 20 years later Jesus was born.
Are these predictions about a symbolic change and not the literal. Will we experience a renewed enlightenment and the begining of a new era OR we will witness the Doomsday. Time and again doomsday prophets have been proved wrong but they keep coming.This time for 2012. History Channel has made a special documentry on this subject. Hi Raka. Its very interesting know about the prophecies of dooms day 2012. We are nothing compared to the nature and its wonders. The whole earth is a dust particle compared to the universe, what are we and what is the value of that we possess.

It's good to see that being a human & Inhabitant of this universe, you are aware of the facts & analysis. Friend universe has remained a great mystery & subject for research for human kind from it's inception.Many astrologers & scientists have extended their limits to see beyond these mysteries & some tasted the success to some extend. Friend astrology & science is based on values, datas & analysis of those datas.Whichever data & theories we have related to Galaxy & it's inception are based on assumptions & analysis, who knows that wheather bing bang happened or not, bing bang may be true, but nobody can say with full confidence.For any prediction/experiment to be accurate, one must have accurate set of datas & values.Sometimes this perfect combination occurs & sometimes not. I am saying this just for the sake of discussion, no other intention is there.
