Attached a excel sheet for F N O position as on 20th dec 2012.
This indicates heavy shorts position being created, so we saw results on 21st dec .
These positions should be squared off by expiry , so a sharp recoery is also expected by or after expiry .

One way can be to rename the extension to ".xlsx" and then upload it.
People can download it and then rename the extension to ".csv"

This information can be downloaded from
http://www.nse-india.com/products/content/derivatives/equities/homepage_fo.htm
Enclosing the same information in xls format which can be opened in the older versions of Excel.
I am a novice in interpreting the information given there. Somebody may please provide the interpretation / derivation of the data.
Thanks in advance.

Dear chandrujimrc,
For every contract, there is one party long and one party short. Hence, total no. of longs have to be same as total no. of shorts.
What Svkum wants to highlight is the net position of the FII's. If u check that, u will see that FII's are net short in position.

I dont think it gives a clear picture right now. Maybe once the dec series is over and january is fresh then we can see.
The title of the file is : Participant wise Trading Volume (no. of contracts)
Its not OI. Its just trading volume, it could be buy and sell once or multiple times during intraday. More traded volumes maybe in the money option while lesser volumes in next strike.
In futures, FII have more contracts in long than short in both Index and Stock.
In options, the short positions may or may not matter, as their premiums will lose and they may earn that way.

satishconnects,
What you have posted is "Volume" data and not "OI". svkum sir had posted participant OI data which is more important for direction.
svkum sir, have you gone through and checked how the FII OI has changed around key price turning points? that would be interesting to know...
