Dear ANS,

Good work, On first look I feel you formulated a strategy with good logic; It's appreciable work.

Only left out task is backtesting and paper trading.

One way your point is true .Even most suceessful traders in this world have around 30% to 40% sucess ratio. Still they turned out to be great traders due to the reason that there 30% sucessful trades covered all there losses and went in to huge profits. Secret is cut losses, and raid profits.I do agree with you Smile .

One clarification- Friday - Monday strategy is meant for Nifty.

Thanks & Regards

RK

I checked this from Jan 2011---

almost 21 trades done 7 stop loss of 50 point each thats 350 loss
14 trades made gain- i set 70 points for booking thats 980 points

So its almost 620 points in 6n half month thats 90 points every month

I changed entry rule a bit-- it should be 5 points above high-- or below low

Rahul,

ANS applied this strategy with some amendements to stocks. One has to backtest this on few F&O stocks which are not range bound.

Dear ANS,

Some time back a strategy similar to Mr. Parray's was posted on this blog by Mr. Hansraj .I am attaching a gist compiled in word format for your reference. The difference is it aims for 200 points not for 20 points, and you can make two trades on an average in every month.

I like this strategy because it takes advantage of the inherent nature of options premium erosion with time . Which will be present at all time frames irrespective of trends.

This system gives you 90% success rate for sure, if you are careful and wise enough may be more success rate is possible. The possibility of loss is miniscule – only on theoretical basis ( still market is capable of shocking us by making it real.)

The key to success is keep on hedging nifty without hesitation as per rule, as many times required. If you miss it your trade is out.

I traded this strategy 3 times during Feb- March and all 3 trades were successful, I stopped this due to some other reasons. But I admire it, always thinking to restart soon.

RK

dear rk,
thanks for your post. while i got the option entry, the entry in future nf is still not clear to me.mr parray strategy is little simple than this.what do you say?
why you are silent about avinash intra method.what r the strategies you wtrading now? i am also interested why you stopped trading hansraj strategy if it was that profitable?(kindly ignore if the reason is personal.)
regards.
ANS.

Friday Nifty High is 5642.20 . Today Nifty crosed it and reached around 5652. Now corrected a bit . Nifty futures available around 5630.

Guys who wanted to try Friday - Monday can take an entry with a stop loss of 50 points.

Keep a stop loss of 5580.

Nifty Futures Closed at 5687 . Right now a profit of 55 points. Laughing

Let us see what happens at tommorrow's opening.

As per strategy need to close the position at first profitable opening . Most propably it will be tommorrow.

I have back tested this from Jan 2010-- till now--

Total 82 week almost-- and but trades are almost 50---

Stop loss hit in 11 trades--thats 550 points
Target 65-70 point hit in 37 trades that 2000-- points-- so gain 1400 points--

which is 85 point every month--without too much pain , time and stress

what i have calculated is on the basis of Future rates as well i have added 5 Points above high n 5 below low--- as 2 points there are few more stop losses-- as some time it made low or high with 2-3 points-- so in broad 18 months-- long n short with 5 Point addition is good-- only once it made long with 7 points n straight stop loss--

and one more addition i didt book on tuesday-- if no profit i hold and book on friday closing-- that was also good as per it

target i places almost 65--70 points-- some time it was higher also--

HEY RK, it seems the strategy starts working.but i was thinking something else.what if instead of booking profit right at the opening, we keep our stoploss order at the low of first 15 mins and watch. if it is triggered we won"t lose much of our profit, but if the rally continues, we may get another 60-70 points more.
think over it.

Rahul !

Is it possible for you to back test Hansraj Strategy .

Selling next month call and put approxmately 200 points away from cmp of Nifty ( both Put and call will be in the money ). Means , say nifty is at 5700 we will sell 5900 put and 5500 call at the same time . once current month nifty goes below 5675 will go short and continue, if it come back above 5575 will cover and no position till nifty cross 5725 ,once above 5725 we will go long ( no position with nifty in 5675 - 5725 range)

Should continue the same proceedure as many times required with out fearing whipsaws. Target is 200 points or if premium of either put / call erodes to 50 which ever ocuurs first , all the positions should be closed ( Target will be the arthimatic sum of put + call + Nifty ).

Ideal entry is 1st week and 3rd week of the month.

Regards

RK
