On Monday, sell nf sep if it trades below 4718( friday low), with a stoploss of 4768(may vary according to your position, it should be 50 points higher, that s it!
target- first profitable opening of the week. (around 70-80 points, or more if one can trail the stoploss properly).

ANS!

In these volatile markets 50 points stop loss may not be sufficient .If we need to trade this strategy. We should keep a stop loss of Friday High otherwise better not to trade till volatality settles.

Look at before last week trade, 50 points stoploss triggered, but friday high (which was 30 points away from our stoploss) never triggered and next day we got a profitable opening with 178 points profit.

dear rk, have you gone through that 20,000 to few crores in 5 years thread? let me tell you last year I traded that strategy for a full calendar year(2010).I made a lot of money 2-3 times in jan, in may, and probably in sep, but the whipsaws are so much that the other trades has taken away all of it and more. I lost 20% of my trading capital at the end of the year and stop trading this strategy.
always wonder if some modifications can be made to that strategy it can make wonder in 5 years timeframe.
something is missing, i am still searching, any input?

I read it. but never tried it. On paper it seems good, as it needed continuous monitoring and full time attention I choose not to go for it.

I prefer strtegies which will not demand continuous attention.which can be managed with triggering orders.

As per my knowledge ,most of the strategies work well in trending markets( may be trading methods also ).Range bound markets are enemies for them.

Therefore may be we need to adopt a method to find out rangebound markets and then avoid trading them.

Sounds so simple.I know, implementing it is not easy ,even may be imposible.

Profit - loss statement till this time.

72-45-52 = -25 (with 50 point stop loss max )

72-45+178 = 205( with Friday High/ Low as stop loss max)

ANS!

Have you tried ADX indicator, ( It was sugested by Casper ).It can help you in recognising trending markets and also rangebound markets as such.
Try to back test your actual trades adding ADX indicator also .If it is able to filter your whipsaws considerably: Bingo! you are almost found a holy grail.

Don't forget to share your result Laughing

Dear RK,
can you help me regarding some information?I am not working currently with metastock and wondering where I can get the ema which can be plotted over the nifty future chart?
In fact I don"t need the chart , only the EOD exponential moving average value willl be enough for me.
is it available anywhere for free or am I to subscribe some plan?

ANS!

You need not subscribe for any plan for knowing just the EMA value .
