Dear Sid,
Can you mention how many years / months you backtested your strategy. If not then mention how many month you are using it for your own trading. Really appreciate you developed and shared this with us.

What is the use of such Excel Sheets when you have access to Intra-Day Live charts.
SID my sincere advice just avoid yourself to get indulged in such things and focus on some real stuff.
Had the trading been such easy every trader was Crorepati
BTW why you ignore question asking about your strategy or backtesting period etc.

I have made many strategies for different time horizons like for trading, short to medium term investment etc.... I have three strategies for futures mkt trading.... This strategy is not the best out of them but a decent one... This strategy is one of the easiest strategy thats why i uploaded it so that everyone can be benefited from it ... In august month this strategy had fetched more than 750 points in nifty futures per lot....

the excel file of SID is based on nested if conditions. I am quite sure that excel 2003 can handle it . upto 6 nested if conditions can be used in excel 2003. i guess, this 2007 version can be easily coded in 2003 version also. that's what i think as of now.

Dear vinst,
My previous version strategy uses 17 nested whereas my newly launched fine tuned strategy still uses 9 nested which excel 2003 can't handle... I wish to make it available to every single futures traders and will try to optimize the code and make my strategy compatible with old excel versions.

Hi SID,
If conditions can be spelt out, I'll code them in excel 2003 and post, since many still do not have excel 2003. It seems to be 8 conditions to me. That means i am missing 1 condition.

Dear SID2060,
Firstly, thank you for posting your strategy for us. I believe this would be of great help to beginners like me. Unfortunately I am unable to get your file working on my computer
My platform:
Windows XP ( SP3)
MS Office 2002 ( I have downloaded and installed the 2007 file converter from your link)
Tool>Options>Calculations - set to Automatic as recommended with Max Iterations 100 and Max Change 0.001
As a result of this I'm now able to open and view your file but to work on it I'll have to save it first. Now the catch is if I save it the file format changes from '.xlsx' to '.xls' and all your formulas are lost rendering your result column useless..... any suggestions for lesser mortals like me on older versions of MS Office would be greatly appreciated as I'm very keen to try out this strategy.

Hi Sid,
Thanks for the strategy. I understand it is a multiple tf strategy. Here I dont understand when 13/21 up and other emas down and result is sell , then what is the significance of 13/21(which is ignored)
SID2060 wrote: | Plz find the attached eod and intraday charts below..... I have taken example of nifty future to expain my strategy....
On daily eod charts:
ema 20/50 - down
On 60 min tf intraday chart:
ema 13/21 - up
ema 5/8 - down
u will get the following result below when u enter the above values:
"SELL ALL BUY POSITIONS AND SHORTSELL, STOPLOSS WHEN EMA 5 GOES ABOVE EMA 8 "
Now u know how to enter the values in the excel sheet..... now when you enter these values, the algorithm will give u a result which u can follow with real money or just backtest or do paper trading before applying with real bucks.....
I hope i have explained my strategy in depth
thanking you,
S I D |

Dear sv09,
Dont convert the xlsx file format into xls format as it will not work if u convert to a old format... As u are now able to open the file thanks to the compability pack from microsoft, plz try out the strategy without converting it..... It may work for you.... Let me know if u got any success....
