I am very grateful to Nitin for starting this thread. When we open our eyes fully we can only then realize the extent to which we are wasting our hard earned money and wasting scarce foreign exchange buying high priced rubbish from foreign sources when with a little effort we can locate equivalent Indian supplier whose product costs 25% to 30% as much.
Clothes, food, banking, cars, scooters, chocolates, candy, energy drinks, shoes, underwear, health food, etc etc. In every sector we are becoming 420 with our foolish craze for phoren!!!!
I would like all our members to contribute their tips and suggestions about products, services etc. Let this thread bulge beyond page 100 ASAP.
Thanks, Nitin bhai

Our reverence for goras and their products goes back 300-400 years and is not easy to change
1 Italy has given Re 1 cr deposit for each marine involved in shooting of Kerala fisherman. Now they have vanished after REPEATED leave of absence granted by Indian courts! (Imagine Indian convicts and undertrials even for Rs 100 theft given repeated leave???)
I can understand reverence for American (rich) and British ( our rulers) but for third class ITALIAN? Now, after lot of gas passing, Manmohan and Salman will PERSUADE Kerala fishermen's wives to accept money and be happy. Middlemen will eat half!
2 Union Carbide Chairman was escorted by VIPs and red light cars to airport to ensure his safety after Bhopal gas leak, 1984. He also never came back and left some money to be distributed as prasad between middle men and victims
3 I went to Infy HO, outside Bangalore, to ask clarification about my father's shares. I was asked to sit and wait. Some third rate goras came out of company bus and were given VIP treatment. Then I was asked what I wanted. I coolly asked watchman whether he was through polishing white monkey boots and b%^kside. He had the shame to apologize and say company policy!
4 There was a Setalvad staying in the building in Bombay where I stayed earlier. He was proud of the fact that his father Setalvad was in the Privy Council of Gora Viceroy! In his presence I loudly asked whether that (father) Setalvad was in boot polishing Committee or in b$%kside polishing Committee. He never publicly boasted again about ancestor!
5 Our national anthem was composed to celebrate the coming of British Maharaja and Maharani on IMPERIAL VISIT: all Marathas, Bengalis, etc , entire India welcome you ...... (Also Gateway of India, Bombay, was built at that time). This is known to MMS etc. Do you think they have ANY shame?
I request members to contribute when u have the time so we can together overcome our fetish for gora things!

You are abs right...it is an mentality in India ...to provide VIP treatment ....A large contribution comes from the very fact that ...Indian people believe English speaking persons know more... English is equal to elite. |

Dear Friendzz....... ...It will be criminal on our part to think of celebrating HOLI by arranging for RAIN DANCE this year. When there is severe water shortage And worse when more than half of our neighbour state maharashtra is facing worst drought...There are places in Maharashtra where people get water once in 10 days. Guys i am not social worker, but it is no rocket science to understand the problem. A individual wastes more than 200 ltrs of water per holi... Contribute by not wasting water this holi........if u feel this message is touching pl pass this.....👏 |

p wangdu: If you say Holi is waste of water (200 ltr/ person) what do u say about Sha Pa group which has put up large number of sugar mills in Marathwada water deficient area depriving everyone else of water? Why this area sees the largest number of farmer suicides? Prakash Holla |

i never said holy is waste of water festival, i said there are differant ways to enjoy the festival., you may be right abt why a powerful politician setting up sugar mills in a area known for highest number of farmers commiting suicide, but its a differant subject discussion altogether. what i wanted to convey is change begins from self and its a social responsibility as a neighbour to do what you me and us can contribute . thanks pkhollaji. |

p-wangdu: I used wrong set of words, my mistake! what i mean is we can water plants by "drip irrigation with min usage" instead of splashing and wasting water. similarly holi can be celebrated with color and wet hands instead of 200+ ltr water splashing. But even that 200 ltr is nothing compared to criminal waste growing water intensive crop like sugarcane in drought area.
BTW, I am Prakash or Holla no jeeee please! |

p-wangdu: did u see y'days TV criticism of "Godman" Asaram Bapu (who wanted delhi rape victim to say Hanuman Chalisa and drive away rapists?). he has arranged for tanker loads of water in drought affected Nagpur to play Holi maro goli. And best part is some insane girl defending him by saying Holi is part of our sanskruti and so all rituals associated with Holi are to be followed! People in Mah are getting water once in 10 days in worst drought in memory!

Prakash Bhai you have no idea how bad the water situation is here in Maharastra. Honestly speaking people who have water are wasting it because they are rich and they occupy high value places where water is pumped in abundance by the govt. Poor are deprived. Yet you see that every piece of land is constructed to fit in a building with or without water. Does this show how developing we are? Middle east has supply of more fresh water than whole of Maharastra. |
