Taxmann: first of all congrats for joining green fraternity. yes, you are right. there is rule of law in middle east. (BTW, Arabs are putting up large sea water filtration plants. soon we may import water also from gulf besides oil). here sugar is grown in drought affected area and even available water is unfairly diverted to rich and influential to be made available 24/7 for even car washing. it is no wonder there is max no of farmer suicides in stronghold of Sugar King. When it comes to water people should understand that this is one gift of god which is priceless though it seems its available in abundance. One way of controlling this world is if you can have the control over fresh sweet water you can rule this planet and not the oil. Politicians in India have already made this an issue by all kinds of activities. Climate conditions changing and going forward we will have water as commodities trading on the exchanges. Rich people will never be sensitive to the poor although they are rich at the expense of the poor. Attitude is an issue here plus our culture of divided and rule. The Indian pride is lost and there is a lining cover. I dont have to write this as its apparent but we look deep inside ourselves we see that how deprived we are of the basic things.

you guys are talking about water wastage. What do you expect when it is available free or at insignificant cost? Our people think it is govt duty to give water free. Put a meter for every household on dual tariff basis and all this wastage will go. Even today we Indians design water supply based on old concept of 200lcpd while international norms are much lessser. Worst still, it has been adequately proved that 24/7 actually reduces waste but our govt/local bodies is a bunch of idiots.
