Hello ragarwal,

SL in this strategy is not known from the initiation of the trade. It takes time to obtain the SL in this.

dear amolvpatankar,
thanks for your appreciation.

Hello Friends

I think that this theoritical analysis needs to take into account the practical trading experience as well.

This is to be calculated that with 20K , how many nifty lots can be bought & total how many points can be "PRACTICALLY" collected.

Actual trading experience will compell a seasoned trader to consider the effect of whipsaw which not only erodes the profit earned but also at many times will require more money to be pumped to handle m2m margins.

Open/close prices shown in candles at EOD are not always available to enter or exit a position due to gap openings.

Back testing results do not match to actual trading results & deviate drastically. They should not be practically taken as a ground to formulate the strategy for wealth creation through trading.

Better way to check is if a trader can earn even 10% on money invested & then protect the same profit inb next few trading sessions.

Practically traders are found to struggle to protect even working capital whatever trading set up they may use.

Things, on eod or on calculator will look rosy though practically they may not be so.

TA is not a solution to create wealth but "proper understanding of concept of business" is required in stock market also like in any other business.

I , myself have been a part of that class of traders who had open derivative positions during 2008 crash or famous election gap up.

One need to unedrstand the cause for which he/she is here in stk mkt.

Unfortunately most people enter stk mkt randomly, then loose money, then learn basics including basic terminology & of course TA.

They sadly still dont know the meaning of being here into stk mkt or meaning of being into a business !!

With my personal experience, I shall suggest to take utmost care of your hard earned money than experimenting with it & finally lossing it.

Like in any business, profits & losses will always remain notional.

I think it is really tough to practically make money on regular basis.

Handle your hard earned money with care.

Regards

well,
I have started posting trades from July 2011 and gap openings have also happened after that.
However, if huge gap opening happens against position and beyond SL, having a pre-set SL also may not help much.
So, the utility of SL is more during trading time (excluding opening)

Post: #443   PostPosted: Sun Dec 25, 2011 1:51 pm    Post subject: Pls clarify my assumptions/inferences. Reply with quote

Dear Sir, I have recently read this article and did not read all its replies.
Kindly clarify my assumptions from this article.
Your statement:" 1. Buy above 34 EMA. Sell when price cuts 8EMA from above.
Again buy when price crosses above 8EMA (provided it is above 34ema) and sell when again it comes down 8EMA "

1: I assume : to buy nifty when it cuts 34 ema from bottom and sell nifty when it cuts 8ema from top. (Where is 8ema, above 34 ema or below 34 ema?)

and
Your statement: 2. Short sell below 34 EMA. Buy back when price goes above 8EMA. again short sell when price goes below 8ema (provided it is still below 34 ema)

2: I assume to short sell when nifty cuts 34 ema from top and buy back when nifty cuts 8 ema from bottom. Again short sell at price when nifty cuts 8 ema from top (Provided WHETHER NIFTY IS ABOVE 34 ema or 8EMA IS ABOVE 34 ema???)
Sir, "a pictorial representation would be self explanatory".
Kindly help me to remove my doubts plese.
Best Regards

krishnalko,

what difference would it make whether positions are actual or paper trades?
I am posting what to do in advance (have been doing this for nearly 5 months now).

shriramsanto,
the 8ema/34ema strategy on daily timeframe was posted by vijaykannan while starting the thread.
I am following different method on 30min timeframe and explained the method in 2-3 posts made during last 2 months.

regards,

Dear Mr. Vinst, thanks for your reply. It all involves 3 variables, 1. 8ema ; 2. 34/30 ema and 3. the price. In words which is at top/ middle/ bottom is difficult to explain in words/sentences. If You or The original writer or anybody who has understood this concept can help me out by putting it into a picture. That would also be comprehensive to any layman like me.
Best Regards

Santo
