I am asking you one very basic question. Has anybody made consistent money trading nifty futures (over a 2 year horizin, lets say). If so what has been the % of return on the amount invested + the buffer he had maintained for mark to mark margin requirement.
My take is that you cannot make consistent money trading. Its a zero sum game. For you to win somebody has to lose. So no strategy is going to work wonders for you in the long run. I would be most glad if I am wrong.

I figured out investing money on a regular basis through a systematic investment plan is the best way to maximise long term returns. Through SIP since your monthly investment remains same you buy more units when the index goes down and make profit on an average. You do not have to time the market.

The other way you can make money I thought might be possible, is to wait for the next recession when the index would be down by around 50%. Then take long positions in nifty futures with buffer for about 1000 points down and then sit tight.

Hi All

Sorry I have yet to read entire thread. But from prima facie I believe 13/34 ema setup can work in a better way for positional trading. I may be able to give more suggestions after reading entire thread.

Thanks

Hi All
The system seems to be good, but i request you guys to read hansraj's 'positional trading in future thread' , he also uses the same system but the differece is , he uses 12 ema, instead of 8.

RCOM broke and regained 34 EMA and gave a nice 10/- move in 2 days. Now it is showing stalling action with a doji.It is moving below yesterday's close and is a short for today.
Most of the stocks have run up a lot from 34 EMA and still there are a few left.
I have listed down stocks with atleast volume 1,50,000 and which are below 34 EMA. Some may be shorting candidate too..

Sandew,

I had tried a back-test and posted my results with figures on 13-Jan-2010. My results did not match those of Vijay's. I am unable to give the link for that post.

Would you be kind enough to see tht post and give your comments as you seem to have done your testing.

regards,
vin

Mr. Sandew...
As the subject of this post says...'Don't just comment... Comment with a justification' ..!!
Just by saying that it works... back test it... Does Not mean that it works...

I had earlier asked a few questions from the originator of this strategy, as mentioned below... To which Vijay is still drafting a reply !!

You may want to help him (being a believer of the strategy) in aswering the questions mentioned below Smile

-Trade Safe.

========================================
Hey Vijay...

Good to see that you shared a strategy that aims to make people rich (in due course) but it does have many issues...

If one has to go with the illustration you posted in your 1st post (the .pdf) file... one can't link it with what you say.

A. You talk about going long and short.. but your illustration showed only the long positions..!!
B. You Did Not mention any dates on which you intend to take those positions... So people here are left guessing when to enter and when to exit.
C. I am not making these statements out of no where.. I did read all the discussions and thought of applying it on the historical data... and it DOES NOT give the same results as claimed by you..!!

So, if you have some time... or anyone who has really understood this strategy... can illustrate me (with dates) when to enter and when to exit (and also covering cases of going Long and Short) then it will greatly help..!!
Lets do it only for one year... that should suffice..!!

- Trade Safe.

We all discover our own comfort level ; and I seem to have found one in the 8/34 ema set-up on eod basis. I have combined it with another ema on eod basis and with hourly set-up and have found it works wonderful for all scripts i trade in for entry and exit. I wish everyone well and success on his own path of discovery.
My request - do not belittle anyone, accept another view or ignore it and move ahead.
Thank You

ShareMuthu,
On eod basis 8 ema cut 34 ema at 5141 to go short; and todate 34 ema is around 4941.

sandew,
On 16-feb, NF went above 8ema, so short position to be closed. Today on 19-feb, nf again closed below 8 ema while 8ema is still below 34ema, so short position started again.
Is my way correct as per method of this thread?

regards,
vin

Also, please say about the role of 3rd EOD ema and its period.

thanks

Hi Vinst.,

Yes, I think you understand the method in proper way. But difficulty is that if NF Open gape up on Monday you have to wait till end of the day for SHORT COVER YOUR Position. On 11th Feb NF cut 8EMA So short to be cover but on 15 Feb it close below 8 EMA and one has to short NF as per this method. Again on 16 FEB NF cut 8 EMA so one has to cut short position. Now once again NF Close below 8EMA on 19 FEB. All these days 8 EMA are below 34 EMA. What happen if NF Close above 8 EMA on Monday ?

It is very difficult to trade on this method for short term. One has to prepare every time cut position on Loss.

Regards
