I am looking at 1248/59/64. Let's hope to see them. 1208 is ok though I would have thought 1212/10 for today

NTPC: Why buy NTPC?
Hammered to year's low but
1 DISINVESTMENT OVER IN FEB 2013. CENTRE GOT RS 11500 CR. SO NO MORE FLUCTUATIONS ON ACCOUNT OF DISINVESTMENT CHAKKAR!
2 Rs 4 dividend in Jan 2014
3 Rs 5.75 (3.75+1.25+0.75) last year
4 Working better and better each quarter, latest has 3.5 eps and 4.7 ceps
5 Regulator's report y'day not as bad as market took it.
6 Ease of entry for newcomer: Very difficult for newcomer to compete on price with NTPC as even new super critical units finding it difficult to get land allotment competed, have to buy costly imported coal, etc
7a There is seriousness in political class to improve SEB working. Look at Karnataka for example, surpluses are being generated even with reasonable rates AND with stricter vigilance. (Even UP has privatised Agra elec distribution (given to Torrent))
7b Centre has paid Damodar Valley Corp its dues from Jharkhand SEB by withholding moneys to be paid to Jharkhand
7c Centre has started a scheme to improve SEB working by providing loans on condition that the SEB at least charges on cost basis in future!
I feel we can do a lot worse than NTPC while looking at a place to park some of our money!

don't have time, sorry. but I don't touch/look at public sector though by being a 5-7 year low (is it true?), ntpc becomes an excellent investment.
