I have been tracking many stocks which have gone up a lot since, particularly, early last year and I am scared to see the potential they have to fall in case market melts, a possibility that I feel exists in months to come.

But those stocks which didn't go up at all in this period and may have actually fallen, hold a great potential if company fundas are good as they are highly oversold, few (near) a multi-year low, even though some are paying dividends.

I have been accumulating many such stocks for many months at every fall and hoping that my judgement is right. All these stocks are mid/small size midcaps and small caps only. Some are based on my understanding of their future potential. All my buys are for 1-3-5 years.

I honestly feel all large caps and large/mid size midcaps which went up a lot from early 2017 will be slaughtered.

This is a general comment. Please do your own study.

In which companies you usually invest to to make such assumption ? "I honestly feel all large caps and large/mid size midcaps which went up a lot from early 2017 will be slaughtered. " that are about Indians ? Have you tried something in foreign markets ?
