I am Shiva, the God of Death
When Wilkinson fires this one, you r taken aback..
I mean, this is the movie we should be watching... I mean there are still so many line in my still running..
1. We are all Janitors
2. I am not the guy u kill, i am person u buy, i sold out arthur for 80 grands and three year contract..
3. I am a fixer
4. Do i look like an negotiating
Man, i can go on and on.. Clooney is the best man, i mean the way he has moved in the story from a Pissed off, Gambler, who lost a bar to the guy, cleaning others shit to the guy who finally exposes everything out is amazing. Hats off the director, i think its Micheal Gilroy has rocked.. Very finely directed and made movie..
Tilda Sweton as the lawyer from U-North, i mean she has played the cold character so finely. The character who is scared to death before any thing and rehearses everything before-hand and puts up a brave face, she was so worth the nomination.
Wilkinson - Arthur, i need not say, anything i say will not be fair to Tom, cause words are not enough to describe his powerful performance. This guy is a genuis such a fine actor. I must Wilkinson steals the show..
Amazing movie, must must watch

Director: Sean Penn
Writers: Sean Penn (screenplay) & Jon Krakauer (book)
Plot Outline:
After graduating from Emory University, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless abandons his possessions, gives his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhikes to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters that shape his life.
Cast:
Emile Hirsch ... Chris McCandless
Marcia Gay Harden ... Billie McCandless
William Hurt ... Walt McCandless
Jena Malone ... Carine McCandless / Additional Narrator
My Take
Beautiful, soul searching, stirring, moving, perfection, greatness, touching, superficial, Oh my god.. magical.. I do not know if these metaphors are adequate for the movie.
If u don't watch this movie, u are missing life. If u claim ur self to be a movies person, then u should watch it with passion. Believe me it will move u.. Very inspiring, lets us understand the meaning of term Prioritizing on life.
Greatness and perfection is all i can say for Sean Penn. This is a joining the league of Clint Eastwood. Fine actors who become finest Story tellers / Directors.
And hats off to Cris McCandless (the original person on whom the movie and book is based).
The narration of the script is so fantastic. I've absolutely no words for cinematograhy, editing. The vision of Sean Penn and the contents of the book are so rightly described. The nature has been so beautifully shot, u fall in love with it and feel even u should be 'INTO THE WILD'.
The journey of Chris is amazing. The character is so aptly portrayed by Emile Hirsch. This guy is powerhouse, and i won't be surprised if this guy doesn't get an Oscar in couple of years.
I've put this movie in my Ipod, and i've lost count of how many times i've sneaked into the movie. God knows when they'll release in Pune or at least India.
I think this has to be the one of the most gloriest and finest year at Hollywood. Talk about gr8 movies from No country for old men, There will be blood, Juno, 3.10 to Yuma, Bourne..
My Take - MUSIC of MOVIE
OST - by Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam writes, sings, performs the songs.
Total 11 songs all are best. Best use of acoustic guitar. Best lyrics, so powerful so perfect to the movie and for any kindda listening.
I've never been a Pearl Jam fan, but after hearing the soundtrack, i've turned into one. Now one of my aim is to get Pearl Jam discography.
The songs like Guaranteed, Rise and Hard Sun are amazing. I think the song Guaranteed won Golden Globe and it was even nominated for Grammy. This is a music lovers album, nowadays i am startled by the music quality in these English movies. The directors and producers are not leaving any stone unturned.
Perfection all the way.
For all rock lovers and music lovers, this is the music to have.
Keep Rocking, Keep listening to gr8 music
Finally Quote from the movie:
The sea's only gifts are harsh blows, and occasionally the chance to feel strong. Now I don't know much about the sea, but I do know that that's the way it is here. And I also know how important it is in life not necessarily to be strong but to feel strong. To measure yourself at least once. To find yourself at least once in the most ancient of human conditions. Facing the blind death stone alone, with nothing to help you but your hands and your own head. - Chris Mccandless (Into The Wild) |

Director: Tony Kaye
Written: David McKenna
Cast:
Edward Norton : Dereck Vinyard
Edward Furlong : Danny Vinyard
Beverly D'Angelo : Doris Vinyard
Avery Brooks : Dr. Bob Sweeney
My Take
Writing about this movie is not like writing a review. Cause this movie is too good for me to write about a it. I will attempt to write what i could interpret from the movie. The movie is about racism.
The movie shows how minds of people are diverted by some no good fool who for his own personal agenda preys on others lives to carry out his dirty work, and when some one who is insecure and already hurt by an events in their life, finds solace in this person's words. And once a person seeks his strenght in such acts and actually becomes strong, how power corrupts him. The central character potrayed by edward norton, is the person allured in the world of hatred for all person's other than white.
The power one gets in these acts and when people become unconventional leaders, leaders for wrong cause, cause that are necessarily their own but of some lone person who is a sick twisted son of b%$#%, who himself is to scared to get out, so he decides to pull out pawns to carry his dirty work.
There are many instances in the movie, when u realize how power can corrupt u, like how edward fights with every one in his family, and fight and fight means voilent one, not the quarrel thing. And when u see them fight u realize the reasons for what we fight, whether they are justified enough to be a reason for a fight. It could be small and petty fights like that happen at out homes or among friends or among complete stranger over issues like sitting or standing in bus, or even between the leaders of nations i.e. the politicians. I mean what i am saying is strecthing things too far...
The movie lets to ponder on things like we are safe here then there, out there on the streets of US, but then are we really safe, is a question we should ask ourselves?
At the end of movie Danny (Ed's brother in the movie) asks whether what all that has happened or been done has that changed or improved our life in any way, has it contributed to anything?? Thats the question Ed asks himself once he does his time in the prison, where i must say he begins to realize that there is no point in doing all the shit that he was doing and all he has gained or lost is 3 years of his life, his family, his brother and the people who actually cared for him.
All in all, i wanna say is may be this review is not the way the review is, its just what i saw in the movie, and there i found connections with our society as well, Maybe its not just American History X but Indian History X as well.. But thats just me, do watch it
Technically:
This movie won 2 oScars and had 9 nominations. Edward Norto is amazing as both a White Supremist and also as the changed man. The movie gives stunning performances from all the persons involved. Its voilent in many parts, plus the language is hard hitting, dailgoues will shake u. The direction is like way above, man the characters presented are so perfectly done.
The sound, the editing is fabolous, but to tell u all unless story and script are not right, then all technicals fall down. I mean unless all is right then the story cannot be told in the way it is meant to be told, i hope u all agree with me. |

hey vivek
movies related to trading or on it back drop:
1. Wall Street (must watch )
2. Rogue Trader (gives a very fair account of the Barring bank failure)
One more movie which you watch is titled - "The Pursuit of Happyness" (the spelling of happiness is as Happyness)
Its a boigraphy on life of Chris Gardner (played by Will Smith), a billionare trader / broker, abt his stuggle and how he moves up. Its a very good movie must watch.

ONCE
Director & Story: John Carney
Character:
Guy: Glen Hansard (singer, song writer & guitarist)
Girl : Marketa Irkglova (song writer, musician & singer from Czech)
(if u look at the credits after the movie, the thing i.e. written is Guy & Girl)
Plot Synopsis:
An (unnamed) Guy is a Dublin guitarist/singer-songwriter who makes a living by fixing vacuum cleaners in his Dad's Hoover repair shop by day, and singing and playing for money on the Dublin streets by night. An (unnamed) Girl is a Czech who plays piano when she gets a chance, and does odd jobs by day and takes care of her mom and her daughter by night. Guy meets Girl, and they get to know each other as the Girl helps the Guy to put together a demo disc that he can take to London in hope of landing a music contract. During the same several day period, the Guy and the Girl work through their past loves, and reveal their budding love for one another, through their songs..
My Take:
This is the movie for whose song 'Falling Slowly' won the best song award, Oscar...
I think now i've seen the movie for about 3 to 4 times and can't get enough of it.. Actually, the movie is shot on 3 handy cams, and a person who has a taste in music cause, the movie has songs and all are damn good..
The acting of both Glen and Marketa is perfect, perfect to the character pictured... The love story shown between the two is real and as well as very touching.
Actually, there is not a lot to talk about cinematography or art direction, cause both are shown as normal people, actually its the songs that stand out of the movie.. Plus, the anger or rage on Glen's face when he performs the song 'Say it to me now' and 'Leave' is amazing.
The incidents during the recording are also good, like when the studio guy greats taken back by the performance... Actually i can keep talking of each and ever scene of the movie.
But, i would say that every one should watch the movie, at least people with taste in music and people appreciating Guitar music... No offence to anyone.. _________________ Vivek |

3:10 TO YUMA
Director: James Mangold
Characters:
Russell Crowe : Ben Wade
Christian Bale : Dan Evans
Synopsis:
Rancher Dan Evans heads into Bisbee to clear up issues concerning the sake of his land when he witnesses the closing events of a stagecoach robbery led by famed outlaw Ben Wade. Shortly thereafter, Wade is captured by the law in Bisbee and Evans finds himself one of the escorts who will take Wade to the 3:10 to Yuma train in Contention for the reward of $200. Evans's effort to take Wade to the station is in part an effort to save his land but also part of an inner battle to determine whether he can be more than just a naive rancher in the eyes of his impetuous and gunslinging son William Evans. The transport to Contention is hazardous and filled with ambushes by Indians, pursuits by Wade's vengeful gang and Wade's own conniving and surreptitious demeanor that makes the ride all the more intense. (source: imdb)
My take:
This has to be among the best western movie made, meaning it should be added to hall of fame. Classic direction, cinematography and sound editing.. Everything from the cold character portrayed by Christian Bale to some flamboyance by Russel Crowe, its amazing. Plus, the way Russell shoots people reminds me of 'The Quick & the Dead'. Truly amazing, everyone should watch it.
The story and screenplay are amazing, we are taken into the lives of characters, and in climax.......... Wait, no plot spoilers from me..
Do watch the movie and post ur opinions..
Rock On,
