sonila wrote Ridinghood, i m not using any sma. only macd in 15-min tf with sl 30 pts from entry. Macd has inbuilt m.a. As the name is m(moving) a(averages) c(convergence) d(divergence). The moving averages can be sma or ema or wma. I checked and observed sma is giving better result and can be used in day trading successfully. For macd settings, see my yesterday's post around 10 p.m. Thnx

thnx alot sonila!
Sad but will have to wait until sma based macd is available on platinum charts.
so until then pl continue posting ur trades!
keep rocking! AEOM

Dear Sonila,

Hi!

Was curious to know what was your intra trading strategy...Once you revealed; I am sharing my suggestion on same

Few suggestions/few rules regarding trade entry, ISL ( Initial Stop loss ), TSL and profit booking / Tgts.

Set up :

Time Frame : 15 TF
Oscillator : STS(9,9,24)
WMA: 10
EMA : 34

Trade with min 2/3 lots...

Entry rules

Long Trade :

1) + Cross over of STS...
2) Bar should be a green bar closed above 10 WMA
On few occasions It is been observed that @ time of cross over the bar formed is RED..hence wait for price to retrace to 34 EMA or a green bar to be formed..( This is particular case when we have GAP up opening)

ISL :
A pivot based on Pivot system of 5 bar. Mind it not 3 bar pivots; strictly pivot formed by 5 bars.
Aggressive traders; those who can afford a ISL of more than 30 pts can initiate trades once + cross over is formed in STS.
Conservative traders can skip trade, if pivot is too far from pt of entry. Wait for a new pivot to be formed and initiate a long trade

In case of Gap up opening ISL will be low of 1st 15 tf bar

TSL : once trade is in our favor TSL is to be shifted to new pivot formed. In strong trending mkt we will be riding the entire move rather than booking out @ 30 pts profit

Profit Booking / TGT:
1: 50 % to be booked @ a 1st bar closed below 10 wma..
2: 100% to be booked when a sell is generated by -ve cross over
Few times it may be case that we will get one bar closed below 10 WMA and then mkt resumes its up trend..if we get an other bar close below 10 wma entire position is closed and wait for an other signal..

MOST IMPORTANT
1)No trade is to be initiated if bar is red @ time of cross over of sts
2) Bar has to be closed above 10 WMA..

A position can be carried over night if one understands the mkt momentum.

Why to aim only 200 pts per month..just check the results for last expiry...

Regards,

JJM

jjm, so nice of u that u mentioned a very logical, effective day trading method. I m sure about its effectiveness as it is from a seasoned and expert trader. But i have a doubt about isl. What is 5 bar pivot method ? I dont know anything about it. Plz explain it if possible with a chart so that i can try this method from tomorrow itself. Many thnx again.

Hi jjm,

Would like to know what strategy should be employed when a trade is taken based upon STS and WMA.....
I have taken an example of 06/06/12 BNF 15min TF, where both BUY & SELL was triggered...
please enlighten us here....how the trades should have taken place?

regards,
Chetan.
