nakum, don't you think R:R ratio should be at least 1.5:1 if not 2:1?

RR depends on time threshold also i believe...over past months i have been successfully trading with RR of 1 instead of 1.5:2, not a specific point i ponder but find that invariably the RR ends up being 1:1

I would also say [that if you read the line thread] that exiting when chart pattern is not supportive [intra-day] and booking out profits have saved me a lot........this is for intra-day trading only......

since the thread mentions profit target of 1% which is i believe for intra day trading.

Amit: On the other hand, I agree that we should at least aim for 1.5 OR 2 :1 because if our initial (ideal) goal is itself 1:1 then we may be seeing even lower rewards and in the long run we will be in loss (especially after deducting brokerage and blood donation to leeches in Fin Min
If we aim for moon, at least we will enter earth orbit
After entering the trade and we see it going against us (as you said) then we can quickly settle for lower 0.5 or 1

RISK REWARD

are u saying for intra day trades...what do others say....i would be more than inclined surely to hear.....

it depends on trading style and market condition also.....trending or sideways....hour..day...week...month

your Al brooks says if u are not sure of trade then take 2:1 RR, if sure of trade, take 1:1 RR>>> [ i think this is good observation].

futher RR depends on whether trading i) trend ii) countertrend in chosen timeframe.........any thoughts anyone?

that is right for me...again mention "me"....but may be i am missing greater profits Wink

that is why being right v being profitable is tricky.....

Overall 1.5 may be very good and we should not go for 2:1 i believe in day trading subject to above - trending market or otherwise, confidence in trade based on indicators etc.

so we need to use both type of RRS may be...views welcome

Nakum seth:

1 Why you are maintaining FOUR threads?

The simplest way-take own dicision
Nifty &Stocks future my view
Nifty & Stocks future my view
Nifty future my view

2 I feel better you aim for 1.5 or 2: 1 ideally , that way you will at least get 1:1 practically

Yane, aim for moon, at least rocket will reach earth orbit!

But if from start you aim low, over all you will be in loss esp after brokerage and taxes

Cheers, Prakash Holla
