AS we see whenever TRIN is between 0.5 and 0.6 , there is steep correction in nifty after it has advanced some 200 pts .
AS can be seen in 4 occasions.

here again nifty may face correction of 400 pts may be at 6500-6600 range .

LETS see 5th time if it shows same results .

svkum: I hope u dont mind that I am posting a brief description of TRIN from Wikipedia:

[The TRIN, or Arms index, developed by Richard Arms in 1970s, is a short-term technical analysis stock market trading indicator based on the Advance-Decline Data.[1]The name is short for TRading INdex. The index is calculated as follows:

TRIN= (advancing issues/declining issues)/ (advancing volume/ declining volume)

A value below 1 usually indicates bullish sentiment, and a value above 1 – bearish. A reading reaching 1.5 is very bearish. The index was introduced by Richard Arms, and is continuously displayed during trading hours, among other indices, on the New York Stock Exchange's central wall display for the stocks traded on that exchange.
The index is calculated based on number of shares traded, not their dollar value. Therefore, a highly-traded stock with a low share price will affect the index more than the same dollar volume traded in a higher-priced stock.]

A relevant thing I want to point out is that the trin chart we have provided on the "Breadth Charts" page is actually a 10 SMA of trin (as indicated on the chart axis itself). To view the raw trin chart, use $NSETRIN as the symbol code in Charts Premium or JCharts (Premium) using "Daily" timeframe option. Make sure you view the chart as a line chart as trin appears only as tick.

Prakash, the good catch I see in using TRIN is "The index is calculated based on number of shares traded, not their dollar value. Therefore, a highly-traded stock with a low share price will affect the index more than the same dollar volume traded in a higher-priced stock.", where the TRIN usage needs caution.

rsn: We should value TRIN for another reason.
I mean, look at current rally to 6400 NF caused by a few stocks, artificial. The economy is in bad shape, banks are loaded with bad loans. Auto companies are NOT doing well but shares at historic highs eg Maruti
A true rally caused by length and breadth of market going up (as in 2010) will be recognized as such by TRIN
I congratulate svkum for bringing this valuable indicator to our attention
