Most of the banks I have mentioned come in that category, Apka....the patterns are suggesting a fall....a deeper fall...for example, Ktkbank could go down to as low as 145 in a few weeks.....I wont rule out 125 as well...if they start falling then there wont be much support as they've gone almost like a straight line... |

Apka: Dont believe Ktkbank takeover rumors! Such rumors float around from time to time. There is no identifiable promoter group. Shares are widely held by South Kanara brahmin community in lots of 10-25-....500. Most directors are managers in the bank and from that community. Take advantage of the rumors to short at highs. Regards, Prakash Holla
Joke: My father, already a shareholder, purchased additional shares from his sister-in-law, in 1990. The bank staff wrote back: "From your name H. J. Krishna, it is not evident which community you belong to. Shareholding is restricted to the 9 sub- groups of South Kanara brahmins with 'inter- dining- facility'"!!!!!!!!! (Yane, I can eat at your house, you can eat at my house) |

1 Returning NRI, visitor? politician?
2 I know where u can sell! At the airport. The p$%ps will hand over thick bundle with brown paper and Rs 100 on each side. If you complain to the cop standing nearby, he will threaten you with jail (for illegal trade) unless you bribe him. Double dhamaka!
They tried it on my sister, who was being escorted by me from Sahar to Santacruz to send her on to B'lore. When I laughed at the p$%p, he got angry and said, "sab tumhare mafik hai, to humara dhandha kaise hoga?"
3 Joke: In 1980, a Maharashtrian friend (a Maratha like Pawar) was flying to Europe sitting next to a politician's son (also Maratha). They became friendly and noted that they had mutual friends/ acquaintances etc. When my friend expressed his problem that RBI has given too few dollars and he may have to starve OR sleep in park, the politico looked at him and said meet me outside X bank tomorrow morning. He handed over $5000 just like that and said return the equiv. in rupees in India. The rumors of lakhs of crores of foreign exchange deposits by Indians in Europe etc MUST be true!

I know anyone can own the shares...but my question was if there is any restriction in becoming the major share holder or so....anyway, just a hypothetical question... |

There you come across RBI's strange and insane rules incl the one that no one party can hold more than 10% of the shares of a bank, except GoI of course. You must also note that the current management team is in place from around 2000 and showing 25-30% growth each year, low NPAs, and there is intense loyalty from staff AND shareholders. It is not easy for an outsider to take over such a company |

yea..that's why many promoters had to sell their stake or merge the bank with some bigger banks..... |

All the smaller banks are rumoured to be merger or acquisition targets of bigger banks these days, Apka.....there are a few reasons given for that...like managing the cost, sharing the NPAs...etc etc....but I doubt if there is any credibility in that rumour....anyway, will have to wait and see.... |
