Apka: Most big companies are well insured for almost anything u can name. Do u know Tatas did not spend a paisa, but everything covered by insurance in Bombay Taj Hotel blast? Nowadays there is key man insurance also where you can insure against a key man leaving his job and going to the competitor.
Google says their annual revenue was GBP 28.937 bn (2011) = $40,000 mn? So 1.5% of revenue?
Google also says 82% owned by the Government so "ek haath se liya, ek haath se diya"??? Government buying out rest of shareholding
Cheers, Prakash Holla

lol... its like our BPCL HPCL IOC ONGC.... subsidy 40k crore given is highlighted but the govt has more than 50% holding in all and they get dividend of Rs.5-10-15 from each stock every year... dunno how much amount that would be in total... somebody should write about it to media and make it highlighted kaisa logo ke dimag se khel rahe.

Nifty is trading around 5956 now. I have been talking about a support of 5935-5915 for the last few days. The market has opened at 5936 and then gone up without even testing lower levels. Currently the market is around the highs of the day after making a high around 5959. Now, if it is able to hold the lows made, there is chance of a pullback as many frontline stocks are looking pretty over-sold. In that case there is CHANCE of testing 6031 or even slightly higher levels around 6075. But I still doubt if we'll be able to break above 5990 or so. Anyway, let's wait and see what's in store for us. If there is any pullback, I expect the following stocks to do well. I had suggested a few ones earlier to go long. These are another few.

ABB
ACC
ASHOKLEY
AUROPHARMA
BATAINDIA
BIOCON
EXIDEIND
GRASIM
HEXAWARE
RENUKA
TATAGLOBAL
VOLTAS
ZEEL

NOTE: I'm not saying that they'll definitely go up. But the signs are positive and hence they could do well if the overall market gives some helping hand. But one should still be pretty cautious, I feel.

Apka: Our HP/BP/IOC : Its worse than u think. Even now actual manufacturing price say of petrol not more than Rs 25-30 or so. A year back our B'lore Deccan Herald newspaper had given breakup. Lots of import duty, excise duty, sales tax, additional sales tax, state duties, highway development fund (Rs 5 /ltr), city underpass/ flyover devpt. fund (Rs 5/ ltr), probably contribution to VVIP welfare trust fund, contribution to duniya dekho trips of former President- mausi, god only knows.
So really it is "ek haath se liya, ek haath se subsidy diya, badi meherbani hui". Why do you think an operator like Reliance (who has links to highest level) is unable to run petrol pump profitably and has shut down????
