NEW DELHI | Tue Jun 11, 2013 1:40pm IST
(Reuters) - The government will not take steps to stem the rupee's slide and it expects the currency to stabilize within days, Economic Affairs Secretary Arvind Mayaram said on Tuesday, after the rupee fell to a record low for a second straight day.

The government was not happy with the fall but not unduly disturbed by it, Mayaram told reporters.

The absence of central bank intervention prompted importers on Tuesday to rush to cover future dollar needs, while exporters refrained from selling dollars in expectation that the rupee could fall further.

SP50 - check RIL. It crossed below 1-3 line of +ww on eod and has reversed as of now. If it closes above it (778) today and if we also see a green candle today/tmrw with good volume then may be it will go up and support nifty.

RIL had become plus (above yesterday's close) for a moment. Smile

At any juncture (given point of time) Govt's need to intervene to control the decline of their currency the intervening point will be highly confidential but once intervention occurs, it's an open secret. Now the million dollar question is whether it occured or not?

What the chart is telling us .I see nothing that significant.

MUMBAI | Tue Jun 11, 2013 2:15pm IST
(Reuters) - The rupee recovered sharply from record lows on Tuesday afternoon, as three dealers cited dollar sales by state-run banks on behalf of the central bank.

However, they said the size of intervention from the Reserve Bank of India did not seem too large, with the steep recovery in the rupee being exaggerated by illiquid conditions in currency markets.

The partially convertible rupee was trading at 58.47/48 per dollar at 2:04 p.m., off a record low of 58.98 hit earlier in the day, but still weaker than its close of 58.15/16 on Monday.

Traders said the rupee was also supported by speculation that May wholesale inflation due this week may show continued easing and media reports the government was considering a special bond sale for non-resident Indians.

same news agency (Reuters), two totally opposite news from two different locations.
What to believe and what to not.
