Essjay: Please dont post something like that in shotgun style. (Manu's work was misogynistic, I agree, but not entire body of Hindu lit.) You should be able to buy a certain book (5 letters in name), translated in English, then you will understand what is meant exactly by the term!
One short passage from that book: "X are filth, go wallow in your filth" etc!!!!

I am writing to admin about this kind of remarks. This is not a private blog for displaying shotgun style behavior. I am deeply hurt and annoyed with such writing. |

the writings are centuries apart, you cannot compare and insult them like this. please don't insult and question people's followings and belief. is bible also the same then?
it's because of the same mythologies and our ancestral medical and spiritual practices like yoga ayurveda etc is India famous in the world and people adhere to it.
i havent read any of the books, but it's not right to be talking like this. |

that's the problem. If he had said Mahabharat and Ramayan are funny, I may have accepted it as there are many unrealistic (as of now to us) stories in them. But Gita, Vedas and Upanishadas are the basis of our scientific and cultural foundation.
Oppenheimer, the father of hydrogen bomb and head of Manhattan project, was no fool to become an expert in Gita and recite it when he exploded the first bomb in mexican deseet in 40s. He was reciting the power of matter as given in Gita.
So much has been copied from our ancient literature, the common man has no idea. Whether it is maths or physics or medicine. Newton studied Bhaskaracharya's "Bijganita" written in 12th century and took credit for calculus 500 years later. This is just one example. Take a case as recent as 5 years ago when some US company took a patent for turmeric and then Indian govt woke up to harsh reality of stealing our knowledge and taking patent. |

Bang on and I completely agree. These are hard facts which most of the Indians dont know. Only if they had time to put behind fruitful things than anything else. |

whatever guys. Chill.
I just posted my opinion which is not gonna change. nor is yours nor did i ask you to.
In fact I find all religious scriptures distasteful, so there.
But hindu scriptures spend far too much time in telling women what their duties are and how they are bound to their husbands. I don't anything written vice versa.
And since you guys are so vehement in defending them, do you even know the original thought? These things were passed down orally, and in riddles. only later written down. Do you even allow for the possibility of errors/personal judgements creeping in.
All Im saying is don't take everything at face value. Or gospel.
Anyway, we've spent far too much trading time on this. Let it RIP. |

if you had written this instead of saying Gita should be banned, all these responses would not be there. |

if it doesn't go up but goes below 5968.
If it goes above 6006, I feel 6027/43/57NF is possible
