arnav, midpoint of 5059 and 5441 is 5250 so if one had shorted as you had advised the apx profit at today's close of 5316 would be about 11.40. Am I right?

Dear Vinay

Option writing is an ongoing process, we can't calculate day by day profits. Moreover, in option writing, one should have open mind about shifting options from one strick price to other strick price to protect his profits. Any rigid view is very dangerous in option writing.

Basic rule of stock trading i.e. trading with trend is also applicable in it also.

Best wishes

To calculate Max Pain, the attached excel file can be used. OI for calls/puts has to be updated everyday.

Note: You may have to alter the formulas if more strike prices have to be added.

Thanks to 'dine' for providing excel sheet.
Soon I alsol provide an excel sheet for keeping records of one's option writing trades and as per their writings of options where they would have maxi. profit or option pain.

Further today i am unable to post in live market. on tommorrow if market opens flat or with positive bias and above 5350 then we shall sq. of 5200 put in range 18-21 and write next month's put @ 5300 strick @ 90-100.

Reason for this, markets are in trending mode with upward bias. and option pain shifted towards 5300. Following is graph.

I'm attaching herewith an option trading sheet.
Sheet naming' option trading' is used to put trade held and subsequently done.
Sheet naming 'option pain' provides option pain of one's gross trades. wherever liability to SE is least there is maxi profit.

It is inter-linked file pls do not chane any string while using.

hope it is helpful!

Hi,
