Hi,

An eye opener for all us guys who sit everyday for 6 hours for day trading for small pofits ( & loss ).

Try this long term investment for size :
Suppose You bought Wipro 100 shares face value Rs.100 in 1980,
1981 , 1 : 1 bonus = 200 shares
1985 , 1 : 1 bonus = 400
1986 split to 10 RS = 4000
1987 , 1 : 1 bonus = 8000
1989 , 1 : 1 bonus = 16000
1992 , 1 : 1 bonus = 32000
1995 , 1 : 1 bonus = 64000
1997 , 2 : 1 bonus = 192000
1999 split to Rs 2 = 9,60,000
2004 , 2 : 1 bonus = 28,80,000
2005 , 1 ; 1 bonus = 57,60,000
2010 3 : 2 bonus = 96,00,000
Appx. Rate RS. 400 Each
hold something & Calculate so that you don't fall down

Cheers !!!!

Hi All,

why dont we post scrips who will have a great future for next decade and more:

e.g.

Wind Energy - Suzlon
Energy hungry India and depleting hydrocarbons. Wind energy will rock.

Telecom
Everything is wireless. More so in future. Buy when the going is cheap and hold for next 10 years or more.

Keep the ideas coming.
Thanks

Yup saw this message being circulated by a lot of brokerages today...

Funny it almost sounded like those chain letters.....

hmmm was wondering maybe coz today was Wipro's result???

Well the point is in 1980 WIPRO was never into software....I guess it was selling canola oil or some oils....

Agreed...with the math above....but then wipro isnt alone...infy...bharti have done their bit too!!!....

Infact its a pity a lot of ppl think investing in equity= intraday/max a few days and paisa doubles....nobody sits and watch the paint dry....

Read some where if someone had only invested a lac in the index it would have grown to 50 lacs...good for ppl who dont know stock picking...INDEXING is one of the best tools to play the market....

SAD in spite of all this ppl will still want instant results...something like cup-o-noodles!!!!

Cheers!!!

Do u mean only HOLDING a stock for 30 years (long term) does the magic?
Hasn't the quality of the scrip any bearing with the apperciation in value?
Have the same amount invested in other scrips on the same date of investment made in WIPRO produced EQUAL result?
HOPE YOU WILL LOOK INTO

For every WIPRO

There will be hundreds of promotors who might have run away with investors money.

There will be thousands of companies who might have failed in last 30 years.

There will be lakhs of startup who might have failed to start.

There will be millions of dreams which might have been shattered in these 30 years.

Show me one wipro in making I am going to buy 100 shares now and willing to wait 30 years !

HINDSIGHT IS ALWAYS 20/20

Dear Acharya,

Unfortunately you did not get the drift. It is not about Wipro. It is about Investment of Rs.10,000 becoming close to Rs. 400 crores. Just to compare this with what people expect their investment to become, I asked about 15 people how much they would like their 10K investment to become in 30 years ( not conservative figure but how much will make them go overboard ). The max. figure I got was 50 crores. In nutshell Wipro investment returns are around 10 times of even wildest imagination of people & that is phenomenal.

If we identify 5 good companies & invest say around 1 lakh Rs. in each of them & forget the investment for say 10,15 or 20 years depending on one's age. Even if 2 of those 5 companies survive the period, One will not have to look beyond his investment to live his retired life happily. Rs. 5 Lakhs can at worst become Zero & at best........... well try your imagination.

Cheers !!!!

Yes, true, patience gives results.

In 1997, for 2 shares 1 share bonus, then it should be 96000 instead of 192000. Am I reading right?

Alokji,
I beg your pardon, will you please name a few stocks with multibagger potential?
I would like to invest 10,000 for long term say 20 + years.
Thanks in advance.

Dear Acharya,

I am neither an expert nor a qualified investment consultant to advise on investment. But my advise is if you are planning to invest for 20+ years, it doesnot matter if you invest today or after one month. Why not use this one month to educate yourself in finding out which companies are likely to do well for 20 years or more, which companies have product mix which will sustain test of the time, their profitability, management & everything that is possible. Then take a decision instead depending on someone to advise you. After all it is your money so why not make an educated decision instead of taking tips from here & there.

Cheers !!!!

Best way to use the power of investing is apply for quality IPOs and keep the allotted shares forever. Even one company if can become WIPRO/INFOSYS/LUPIN/DABUR/INDIABULLS can give you so much return that you will never be worried about companies which will vanished in due course.
