I am not very sure, but GAIL I think is following bullish flag pattern, becoz the Stochastic (sts) , MACD and RSI all are matching the stock selection conditions.
Flag starts from 05/11/2009 and reaches it's high on 02/12/2009 and after some consolidation today is the break out day, though not a considerable amount of volume.
I am a newbie, plz forgive if u find this information irrelevant. |
GAIL seems to be qualifying, I will check it thoroughly and will give its levels, if it fully qualifies.
Thanks and keep on posting.

Not a clear and sharp breakout, flag is much big means tomuch time for consolidation. Can't go for it.

Target must be 3 times than the difference between SL and CMP. If low of the pole is 17/12/2009, then Phillips carbon does not qualify on RR ratio. If pole is of 14/07/2009, then it does not qualify as the pole is far away. I generally take pole which is around 60 days away from the current date. I calculated the RR ratio on the basis of yesterdays closing as today's closing there is no breakout.

Hi Harsh,
Here are point-wise answers.
1= Candle stick patterns are just for confirmation purpose hence i dont we need to concentrate on bullish candle stick patterns? Pls comment.
Ans.: You are right, it is for confirmation only but when candle stick patterns also gives confirmation, it is also assumed that price will rise soon, means consolidation period after the breakout will be short.
2= How do you calculate recommended price range?
Ans.: Risk Reward Ratio is calculated on the basis of CMP. It is always above 1:3. But generally it is more than 3.5. I strech the CMP manually upto the level where the Risk Reward Ratio reaches around 1:3. Lower range of the price is just few paise/rupee above the SL. Attaching Excel sheet I use for various calculations before selection of stock (SL, lower range formulae inserted for auto-calculation). Change the Upper range in the sheet in such a way that Revised Risk Reward Ratio should also be 3. I decide the range because if suddenly stock price runs, I should know my range as per risk and if it sometimes opens above the range then I don't even buy that stock.
3= I have also started using ambibroker, can u tell how to find stock with it fulfilling our criterias?
Ans.: One of Forum Reader Mr. Raja is helping me by writing AFLs for Amibroker, and we are testing those AFLs these days and fine-tuning as per our requirement. I will definitely share those AFLs when they are fully functional. So far I am using hit-n-trial methods for finding stocks as u see, so many people are giving suggestions on various stocks.
4= Gail surely seems to have potential for 500 rs, waiting for ur expert comment on the same.
Ans.: Will post about Gail in the morning, can u wait till then? Because I am searching few more stocks and will do analysis one by one in the early morning, actually that's my time when I decide my trades for the day.
Thanks

I have already explained the calculation of target and SL. Please read the entire thread. I don't follow the trailing SL system. I just keep on rotating 10-12 stocks and keep on booking profits. I use the system of use and throw, means buy, wait for a while for profit gain and then exit. I never stuck with a stock for long.
