Some posts ago , Vinay had provided astro inputs . In continuation to that here are some interesting facts that can be combined with technicals in our unending quest for predicting the future !
Knowledge/information, as they say, is addictive....
This post is about Mr Saturn , the mighty planet ...as it transits the sign Libra after 30 years ....
Saturn's Ingress into Libra
Inventions that were rumors during the transit of Saturn in Virgo are ready to come to market. When Saturn transits Libra the inventors put on their final artistic touches and include extra value to their product. Behind the scenes of bringing to the public a new product are a myriad of contracts, agreements, and financing deals. Initial Public Offerings will return to the stock exchanges. For example: Apple computer has Saturn in Libra in their IPO.
Renaissance in Communications
Libra favors inventions and new products that enhance the delivery of information to the public . Saturn in Libra presents inventions that offer every one equal access to knowledge. Previous transits of Saturn through Libra have introduced movable type, Morris code, talking movies, color TV and the personal computer.
Saturn begins transiting Libra October 29, 2009
Saturn plans on visiting Libra on October 29, 2009 only to return to Virgo on April 8, 2010. He returns to Libra July 22, 2010 and plans to stay until October 5, 2012.
The Symbol for Libra is the Scales
Consider how difficult it is to balance the scales. The sign Saturn transits indicates there will be numerous problems concerning a fair deal for all parties involved. Saturn is not afraid to explain the problems and in Libra he will insist on fair and equitable solutions. In the world of business the plethora of various communications devises will help solve the problems quickly.
Saturn seeks to identify the problems in relationships between financial partners and while in Libra he will seek solutions. In the world of finance, hedge funds, and mutual funds will have unique partnership problems that threaten to shorten the life of these funds. Negotiations concerning mergers and acquisitions will be difficult. Confusing laws as well as tax consequences will add to the negotiator's challenges. Fortunately Libra prefers to argue until all of the parties have made a fair decision or are exhausted.
Libra is the great referee of the Zodiac.
Saturn's transit of Libra makes it very difficult to determine which side of the issue is correct. Pluto's transit of Capricorn during the past year has quickly changed the rules. Government's regulations as well as rules of the various exchanges have been dramatic and often with unintended consequences. Courts and judges will have difficulty applying the new rules so that each litigant is treated fairly. Legal issues abound with government officials unable to help either side of the question.( vodafone tax ruling???)
While moving through Libra problems will occur in sectors considered to be luxury items. Since disposable income will find its way into the communications sectors, the sectors that include wearable art, home furnishings and luxury toys will find their customers have empty pockets. Saturn is going to make it very difficult for merchants of all things beautiful and expensive from jewelry to gourmet candy. Generally cooler weather is in the forecast therefore shoppers will purchase warmer clothing including wool and fur. Apparel makers find thrifty consumers insist on quality at a fair price. Libra sectors :cosmetics, jewelry, apparel, the legal profession, sugar, accounting.
A Macro History of Saturn in Libra
Saturn changes signs in the Fall. He was in Libra from:
1774-1778, The American Revolution
1803-1806, Maritime Prosperity and Peace at Amiens
1833-1836, Bank Credit Land Boom, Morris Code
1862-1865, Civil War Boom
1891-1894, Railroad Prosperity, radio
1921-1924, Movies invent Talkies
1950-1953, Korean War Boom, Color TV
1980-1983 Reagan Boom, Personal Computer
2009-2012.
These years were either war economies or post war booms. Inventions of communications devises were made practical and available to the public. The Saturn 1980-1982 transit through early Libra was difficult for leaders. President Reagan and Pope John Paul were shot. and Anwar Sadat was killed.
Saturn's entrance into Libra also announces the devaluation of a currency. Historically fiat currencies of the various nations were beset by hyper-inflation. In 1923 it was the Mark, in 1950 it was the yen, and in 1981 it was the Peso. The countries involved borrowed too much money without the reserves required to back their paper currencies.
USA Saturn Return. Is the dollar in trouble?
Jupiter and Saturn are the planets of business. Both are in very powerful positions. In the Sibley chart of the USA both are angular and the business of the USA is business. Jupiter is in the seventh house and rules the first. Saturn is in the 10th house and rules the second and third house.
When a transiting planet makes a conjunction with its position in the natal chart, it is called a Return. During 2010-2011, the USA chart will have a Saturn Return. If the USA is on the right path things will be great. If the USA is on the wrong path then a Saturn return will kick her in the pants until she arrives on the exactly correct path.
The USA will have a Saturn return three times during the week of November 26, 2010, the week of March 21, 2011 and the week of August 20, 2011. Saturn is conjunct the Sun of the Dollar on November 2011, and in May and July of 2012. Saturn conjunct the Sun is very tough, forcing Americans to take a strict account of their currency. Barter is the second choice.
Note: Saturn was in Libra from 1862-1865 when the USA was heavily involved in the Civil War.
Knowledge is Power
Saturn in Libra announces a revolution in communications and the old rules of who has access to information are changed forever. The previous method of controlling which group has access to information is forever replaced. New and exciting media becomes available to everyone changing our world view.
People love news, information and great stories told and retold. Each invention of new media soon becomes available to everyone . The underemployed work force created while Saturn was in Virgo had plenty of time to think or study. Creative folks refined their ideas while skilled workers returned to school to learn new techniques. Once retrained the workforce will find new jobs and money in their pockets to spend on the new inventions therefore a Saturn in Libra.
Saturn's ingress into Libra is the culmination of each generation's information Renaissance. Saturn's ingress into Libra allows new inventions and great ideas to move into the public domain. And simultaneously all sorts of new IPO's, mergers and acquisitions, contracts, legal issues and a huge problem with the currency.
In two and a half years we will all be wireless and hopefully off the grid. |

Good one Ajay! Alas, the only problem in this is that this is a western prediction based on western astrology. I had stated earlier that western astrology is not as accurate as ours. What's more, their basis for treating planetory transit from one sign to other is different. THEREFORE, saturn actually entered libra, if I remember the date correctly, on 15th Nov 2011 and will not move to scorpio till sept 2014, longer than the usual 2.5 years since it becomes retrograde a couple of times in this period and also enters virgo for a while.
Saturn, considered the son of sun, is also its enemy. since sun is the king, saturn is the leader of opposition i.e. have-nots. It is also a great leveller. at its worst it breaks one down so much that one would like to commit suicide. BUT if one does not break down then it takes one to new heights. It is also most powerful in libra i.e. exalted.
From 25th Dec, jupiter became normal in aries (till that time it was retrograde) opposite saturn and will remain there till mid may. Jupiter is "swagruha hanikarak" but its "drushti" on 5th, 7th, 9th houses is good. Saturn is "swahagruha vruddhikarak" but its "drushti" on 3rd, 7th and 10th houses is bad. libra is India's "karma" house while aries is India's "sukh" house. therefore, this period is good for India's karma but not for happiness. |

Hi Vinay, Ajay and others.
yes, i did plan to return to icharts, now that my self imposed exile is completed after closing some property related matters. there were no caveats then, but then I find you guys are not talking english
you have something like drushti on 5th, 7th, 9th houses, Saturn is "swahagruha vruddhikarak" and so on. and i was under the notion this forum was for 'pure ta'. for the record, this scorpio does not believe in sun signs. yes, another example of an oxymoron here
having said that, it appears you guys are having fun here, while making money.
way to go!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
In other news @uncannybal and I had moved our usual lunch from sat to sunday today. hic.
Cheers |

Vinay...accuracy in astrology is an illusion at the moment. So I refer to it in terms of historical relevance just as we do in TA. Thats why the macros.
However, what I intend to get into shortly in this thread is SECTORAL ANALYSIS based on Fundas, Tech and a little bit of astro thrown in for entertainment ( unlikely to find many followers in this forum anyway) !
Since you have done some work in this area ,can you tell us in brief with minimum astro jargon about planets and associated sectors ( indian astro, if it is different)? |

This bear market rally is doing an excellent job of luring investors (DUCKS)back into the stock market. Positive economic news over the next couple of months will add credence to the belief that the economy has turned around.
It will be exactly at that point that the bear will take the chips off the table again.
....quack quack .....(louder)
'... buy from them when they are puking and sell to them when they are quacking....'
Do I hear the quacking getting louder ? |

BATTLE ROYALE :
Never before in our lifetime have we seen a fiercer fight between two opposing forces — global recession and mad money printing! The opposing forces are massive:
On one side, we have the largest economy in the world — the European Union — collapsing before our eyes. And ...
On the other side, we have one of the most powerful central banks in the world — the European Central Bank — going berserk with a new wave of money printing, helping to push global stock prices higher.
Hard to believe things have gotten THAT extreme? Then consider the facts:
Just last week, the World Bank declared that Europe has entered a recession; capital flows to developing countries have declined by almost half as compared with last year; Japan and the U.S. have not resolved their debt problems and could trigger sudden adverse shocks; plus the world could be thrown into a recession as large or even larger than that of 2008-09.
Meanwhile, also last week, we learned that the European Central Bank has now printed a massive $3 trillion in paper money to combat the crisis! |

One look at the liquidity sloshing around in our market and one cannot help getting severely bullish!
Now of course. we have the nice W formation of the weekly nifty charts that point to 5600 levels .
Already we are up 600 from the bottom with all the selling being absorbed.
Another spike comin' up? |

If that is true, there has to be consolidation first. BUT, I won't be surprised if this period is small compared to normal. Sellers will come at each important level e.g. 5170, 5220, 5350, 5450, 5640, 5780. I have posted under "nifty view" that a huge short position is carried forward. they will be slaughtered and we may have payment defaults. This is not ORDINARY money.
At the same time ECB has to pay out between 15th feb and 15th march and rupee may devalue that time. |

True Vinay.... previously also there was consolidation expected at some levels , but this juggernaut has trampled over those levels.
Anyway , each day is a new day and barring a black swan event (Iran stand off?) this rally seems to be hell bent on getting the ducks back into the game.
And thats when the bears will come back after licking their wounds ...
You recall the cup and handle ? take a look again end of this month . |

Adding to above UK GDP came worst than expected.
Some time ago at one point of time after announcing results Kodak shares started rallying .Some one wondered and asked analysts why the rally?.... even though it announced huge loss?! .Then …..The answer came…. the loss is a little less compared to earlier quarter……
Now the world markets are doing the same … as a whole……Finally what happened to Kodak …. All of us know….. |

And there is more RK ...CURE for BALDNESS ?
the market has been watching Europe, particularly the fact that (as of this writing) a deal still hasn't been struck between the Greek government, the Troika (the ECB, IMF, and euro-zone leaders), and private holders of Greek debt (bankers, hedge funds, and sovereign wealth funds).
In order for Greece to avoid a default on €14.4 billion, which comes due on March 20, these groups must agree to reduce the value of Greece's debt. Basically, they are negotiating to see how much money lenders will lose — in other words, accept a massive "haircut."
Negotiations have been ongoing for a while, and a deal is expected to be reached. But the original agreement was supposed to have been struck months ago. So it's interesting to see why this is taking so long.
The reason is because the Troika wants to get Greece's debt/GDP ratio down to a manageable 120 percent from the current 200 percent. The problem is that every time they look at the Greek economy, they see that it's slowing.
Consequently they have to re-do the growth forecasts, which then requires more of a haircut on the bonds to reach the 120 percent target debt/GDP ratio.
In all likelihood, the negotiations will get done and a deal struck. But given the slowing of the Greek economy due to austerity the Greek government will have to impose to receive a bailout, the probability of the deal having to be re-negotiated at some point is high.
Longer-term Problem
Looking further down the road, the question comes up: How are the PIIGS countries supposed to pay back all this bailout money, when they are simultaneously being forced to implement austerity measures that will slow their economies, and in return tax receipts?
The answer isn't at all clear. But it is a stark reminder that this whole European crisis is one that will take years to figure out — something to keep in mind the next time we get a furious rally in the European markets, like we've seen lately.
Remember that in the short term, the market focuses on the rate of change in a trend, not the direction (i.e. are things getting worse than they were last week), not "are they getting better?" The rate of change in the euro zone is positive, and markets are reacting accordingly, but fixing the problems will take years. |
