What is Traders’ Carnival? #TC2013?
Traders’ Carnival started out (though not in the same form) as a means of keeping in touch with trading buddies in a social environment. It started out with 4 friends meeting over a few drinks one lazy Saturday afternoon in Bangalore 4 years ago. This initial group of 4 friends included our own Speculator from Icharts.
Not all discussions under the influence are forgotten….. as these lazy chats discussing their present trading experiences had gradually grown over the years into a group where over a hundred traders met at Bangalore in October 2012. Costs for the meet were shared, and it slowly progressed into a residential program to escape the caveat of a 6 pm closure. #TC2012 saw this group of traders huddled over discussions till around 2 am, and again, ready for a 7am start.
The canvas of this meeting expanded to traders from outside Bangalore, and in 2012, we had traders coming in from all over India. Do look at the demographics of participants on the website, www.traderscarnival.com.
For those who did not attend the last Traders’ Carnival 2012 (#TC2012) in October 2012 at Bangalore, here is a brief background of the event.
#TC2012 was held at the ECC – Ecumenical Christian Centre at Whitefield, Bangalore, set in a sprawling 28 acres of greenery,
The first chapter of the event in its present avatar –Traders’ Carnival 2012 – (#TC2012 hashtag on twitter) kicked off on October 26th, 2012 at Bangalore, a two day residential event. Over a hundred traders participated in this event comprising of holistic and detailed Strategy sessions, Trade Psychology sessions, and indulged in brainstorming, late into the night. This turned out into a sit-down hangout for traders.
We had ten experts sharing their strategies at the event. They trade these strategies themselves, and over half of them continue to trade for a living.
#TC2012 also had a session on regulatory content – RBI, SEBI, by Deepak Shenoy, a co-founder at MarketVision, which is about financial education and spreading awareness on markets and financial products to Indian consumers and businesses.
The icing on the cake : A session on Trader Psychology by a veteran trader of over 28 years in the markets. This wily fox is an acknowledged expert on ‘hit and run’ strategies which, as past years have showed, have an excellent track record.
#TC2013 is an annual event for the Retail Trader in India. Conceptualised, managed and run by a community of traders with no fancy claims and magic wand….neither do we have a parrot which picks stocks in the morning…
This is an attempt is to let the retail trader know -
There is a method to the madness.
#TC2013

Dear all
Posting this information here on Icharts has started an aggressive flow of registrations.
Huge thanks again to Icharts Management for the approval.
One request however, during the funds transfer, please add *only* your name and city in the description column, else reconciliation with the transfer and name of participant becomes tricky.
Some of you have put 'TC2013' in the funds description column, which creates confusion
thanks!
Cheers

thanks! and the credit obviously goes to all traders who have volunteered their time, ideas and more!
as well as the ten speakers (including Speculator) who share their strategies which work for them, apart from the very critical money management/risk management and trader psychology
Cheers

Umesh:
Yes, most of the speakers from last year will speak this year too. I realise the website did not contain fleshed out content it should have carried.
The difference primarily would be focus on the following...
1. Options based strategies - One of the speakers would focus on a 'monthly income' kind of strategy. This would be useful both for full time traders, as well as those employed who wish to deploy funds smartly.
2. One of the speakers gave his strategy a fancy name - 'The abhimanyu strategy' since he feels most traders get their entry correct but snafu happens with exits.
3. EWT : While this still remains an unknown animal to me personally, we will have a 4 hour session on EWT by Nitin Bagde. This is planned for later in the evening, so there is no 'deadline' either on the session per se or the Q and A.
4. The Dubai speaker (still very much a part of Icharts) will also focus on options strategies which he has been successfully trading for the last 12 months from #TC2012. Agree 12 months is a small sampling size, but if it is not broken, why fix it
5. The 3x5 EOD strategy that was discussed at length last year has moved into a shorter timeframe (hourly) strategy, and while it hasnt yet 'stood the test of time' 12 months again being a short tf, has produced good results so far, which would be discussed at #TC2013
6. Speculator: Again, same speaker, new topic : ' Managing position sizing, Initial risk, Overnight risk, Profit booking strategies, Capitalization requirements. Briefly, his talk at #TC2013 will focus on Holistic Trade Management'
7. Trader psychology, that underrated and unheralded competence will have special focus at #TC2013. By atleast 3 traders.
8+++ I have received requests from participants to share their working strategy with the audience. Presently, due-diligence on this is on, as well as how to fit it into the rest of the program.
Umesh, presume this is descriptive enough, please revert if otherwise
btw, nice response from Ichartians for #TC2013! THANKS.
PS: Accommodation at the Marriott is on first come first served basis only. Later registrants may be accommodated at nearby hotels.
PS2: Those traveling from Delhi to #TC2013 have an option of an Air India flight AI851 with ETA 7 am at Pune. Input given by a Delhi Participant. thanks to Rakesh
Have a great day, all!
Cheers
