dear mr parray, opened up new position at around 1.30 pm according to your strategy.
sold 5800 ce sep@129, bought 5600 pe aug@ 74, bought nf sep @ 5718.

for call selling i am asked a margin of rs. 27000, for nf buying rs.26000, and the put premium 74*50=3700.
so, altogether, 27000+26000+3700=56700 , that is the total investment required.
now waiting for the market move , let's see what is store in future.only problem is constant monitoring, which, at times becomes really tough.
thanks and regards.

sri, holding long after upside of 180 to 200 points put will be zer u will be adding extra benefit from that on short side call will rise in line with future ie as good as future thus better to book the profits as and when available. during mkt sideways benefits will be more.

this is for those who are new to option trading, find call and put little complicated and trying mr parray strategy(like me).
one simple formula for monitoring three of your position and assessing if you are in profitable position or not.
seniors, kindly ignore this, my target people are the new traders of the forum like me.

at any given point of time,
if cmp(nf) = the current market price of nifty,
cmp(pe) = the put value that you bought.
cmp(ce)= the call value that you sold.
now, say like me, you sold sep call 5800 @129, bought aug 5600 put @74.
and bought sep nf @5718,then

net profit={cmp(nf)-5718}+{cmp(pe)-74}-{cmp(ce)-129}

dear parray sir, kindly correct me if i am wrong.

thought of attached xls sheet helpful to all which in tracking the positions with comparison to eod low, high and closing prices of holdings that gives an idea when to quit and what level u r positions can be profitable or loss and same u can turn as your ledger.

do not touch green coloured cells , fill only white colour cells.

cheers...
